MALL SHOW 2010
Building season is well underway. Hopefully everyone is wrapping up their winter building project in anticipation of our annual Mall Show. The Mall
Show is scheduled for the weekend of March 6th & 7th. Set-up will be after
8:30 PM on the 5th.
Chris Poynter has graciously volunteered to be our Mall Show chairman. If you have any questions or issues, give him a call. Thanks for stepping up Chris.
This year we plan to run two flight simulators, and one TV with DVDs playing. The club has invested in some new DVDs this year. So, we wont
be stuck watching the same old crash videos. We shouldnt be watching
TV anyway. We need to be out walking the show line, answering questions, and trying to recruit new members.
Aircraft will be judged in the following categories: Giant Scale (wingspan over 72) Scale (modeled after a full scale aircraft) ARF Helicopter Electric/Foamy
Just some reminders if you choose to have your model judged. Each aircraft needs to have a display card with info about it. This card should include:
the builders/owners name, wingspan, engine type, weight, and any other info you deem pertinent. The more info, the better. If the airplane has retracts, smoke, lights, bomb drop etc., you need to put that info on there. If you have pictures you took during your build, display those. The judges need to see this stuff so they can properly judge the aircraft.
If you are displaying a scale model, you should have scale documentation to show the judges. This could include some pictures of the full-scale aircraft, or 3 view drawings. This shows the judges how closely the model resembles the real thing. Again, the more info the better. Tell em everything you can. It can make the difference between the trophy and a ribbon.
ARFs get judged on fit and finish. Since they are mostly prefabricated, the judges will look at how well you put them together. Be neat with the glue. Make sure the parts fit together well. Seal your hinge gaps. Add something to make it look different from the other ARFs. This is what the judges look for.
The Henderson RC Club will be judging again this year.
We have one more meeting before the Mall Show. I encourage everyone to attend. We will have a sign-up sheet for workers. We need to have plenty of people to help out at the show. If you are displaying, please plan to work a few hours. One or two people cant do it all.
So, get em finished up, shined up, and show us what ya got!
